Friday August 10 - Cresco, IA

Chris and Nick Young headed north to the Cresco Speedway to compete in a USRA event. Chris charged from the last row of his heat race up to the 2nd spot to earn a front row outside starting spot for the $2,000 to win A-main.

Chris and Nick got the car ready and Chris jumped into the 2nd spot entering the first turn at the drop of the green. Chris went to work using the cushion and was passing polesitter Chris Simpson for the lead when the caution flew and forced Chris back to the 2nd spot.

On the restart, Chris lost the 2nd spot to Ace Ihm and was working hard to hold off a hard charging Chad Simpson for 3rd. The two raced side by side for several laps before a crash just in front of the leaders brought out another caution. Chris was scored in the 4th spot and restarted in the 2nd row of the double file restart.

Chris lost the 4th spot to Mark Teske and finally fell to 6th when Brian Harris drove past.

The track started out the feature with a good cushion, and Chris left the car a little too free counting on the cushion to stay there. When the cushion blew off the top side, Chris was way too loose and could only hang on and do his best to salvage a good finish.

Chad Simpson drove to the front and took the win and tightened up the chase for the USRA championship.
