Saturday June 23 - I-55 Raceway - Pevely, MO

After Friday night, we headed to I-55 raceway on the other side of town to compete in the $10,000 to win UMP Summernationals event.

With 44 very good cars on hand competing for only 18 free spots in the 24 car field (6 provisionals were given out to UMP and track points cars), we had a tough challenge on our hands to make the starting field. With only a single lap of qualifying, it was key to get a good lap to earn a good heat race starting spot. Chris drove hard but only timed in 6th out of his 11 car group.

He lined up 6th for the heat race, and finished in a dead heat for 4th with Ed Dixon, but was scored 5th and forced to run the B-main.

In the B-main, Chris was racing hard with Ed Dixon for the final transfer spot when he jumped the cushion entering turn 1 and smacked the wall. The contact bent the right front lower control arm and forced Chris to head to the pits.

It was a disappointing end to the night. The car was not working too bad, but the track was very hard to pass on and the competition level was very high.

We will take what we learned and try to get faster moving forward. We know that in order to learn how to race with the best, you have to go out and race them a lot. We know that we will get beat a lot, but we will be learning and improving and we will get to their level.

We are definitely gaining!
